This pair of trousers belonged to Professor Susumu Tsuno, then the President of Nagasaki Medical College, when he was bombed.
President Tsuno went to Tokyo on business in early August, and on his way back to Nagasaki, he passed through Hiroshima on August 7th. He witnessed the terrible state of Hiroshima brought by the atomic bomb, called a new model bomb at that time. The next day, he talked about the state of Hiroshima to other professors at the college in Nagasaki. On the following day, President Tsuno himself was bombed.
At the time he was bombed, he was examining an outpatient in the internal medicine ward with his back to the window, and suffered innumerable cuts mainly on his back. Although these wounds got better, he died from the effects of radiation on August 22nd, 13 days after the atomic bombing.
